Solution

You need to create the Period with a Leave balance date on the company.

To do this:

  1. Go to Set up

...

  1. Organization.

  2. Select the company the person you receive the message for is connected to in Personal Details

  1. Employment.

  2. Go to the Payroll

...

  1. Period tab.

  2. Add the period by selecting new or use the Wizard to set up for one or more year in one go.

  3. Add the dates as shown below, but make sure you use your own company's dates for payroll.
