APM Workstation access for On-premise Installation

For customers who have an on-premise installation and are planning to distribute the APM system for office users, the best option is to create a shortcut on the user PCs pointing to the apmgr.exe file found in the APM root folder on the server.

Server Side:

  • From the server, locate the APM root folder.

  • Right Click, properties and go to the Sharing tab. Click Advanced Sharing.

  • Enable “Share this folder“ and click Permissions Button.

  • Make sure to allow all check box below.

  • Apply and OK to save the settings.

 

Workstation Side:

  • From the user’s PC, go to run by hitting window key +R or go to search bar and type run.

  • Type in the computer or IP address of the server using this format “\\computername“ and hit OK.

  • You should be able to see the APM root folder that we share a while ago. Access it and copy the apmgr.exe to your desktop and rename it as desire. This will now become your APM shortcut.

 

Take note that this has some limitations, and it is only advisable for a small group of users (15-20 PCs\Users). Sharing 1 shortcut from a large user group can result in the system working slower.
