How to set fields as Mandatory

When adding a new person to the database, creating a new vessel in the organization structure, or manually adding an activity to a person you can set fields that are mandatory to fill in before the record can be saved.

Question

I don’t want a user to be able to save a person if the employment start date is not filled in.

The mandatory fields is not applicable for existing persons, vessels or activities, before the user makes a change and then tries to save.

The settings must be done on each organization level where you link a person to in Personal Details | Employment - Organization field.

How to

  1. Go to Set up | Organization

  2. Select the company you link the persons to when creating them, and go to the Mandatory fields under Properties

  3. You have 3 different tabs available:

    1. Person - fields in the data group Personal Details

    2. Vessel - fields for the vessels in the Organization structure

    3. Activities - fields for an activity in the data group Activities

  4. Find the field(s) you want to make mandatory and set a tick on it.

  5. Click Save and Close
