Introduction
From 1. November 2022, Norwegian shipping companies must report sailing time (Fartstid) electronically on behalf of their employees. Read more in this information letter from the Norwegian Shipowners Association, which was published on 25 October 2022.
Sailing Time shall from now up be exported electronically from Adonis Personnel Manager PAYROLL (APM). For this to go painlessly, a so-called plug-in must be installed to the system. It is called NMA Sdir and contains all the necessary functionality to upload the speed time.
Furthermore, some simple adjustments must be made to the position codes in the system, to ensure that the sailing time is correctly reported in accordance with the official position codes from the Norwegian Maritime Directorate.
The process that must be carried out before the first report can be summarized as follows:

- 3 Housekeeping - Plugin Installation and Configuration
1. Install the plug-in.*
The process is described in more detail below in Housekeeping below. The installation requires IT expertise and we suggest that you involve your IT department as soon as possible.
A plug-in is a separate piece of software code that eliminates the need for changes to the main software you are using. In general, it reduces the risk of bugs and disturbance to vital processes.
2. Create a new interface code: NMA
A new code must be created in the General Code Table that identifies the export to NMA. NMA is just a name, it can therefore be changed. This is a simple one-time process, described in Housekeeping 3.1 below. We suggest that you as an end user start here.
3. Update all relevant position codes (Rank Codes)
The Norwegian Maritime Directorate (NMD) requires that all positions / Rank Codes must be identified with the Directorate's specific position codes. This must be done on all Rank Codes where speed time must be reported before the export can be run. How this is done is described in Housekeeping 3.2 below.
If you are a customer of Adonis Cloud, point 1 will be taken care of by us. All users, regardless of hosting platform, are responsible for points 2 and 3.
The plugin considers only seafearers with the Norwegian nationality and PERSONALIDNO (fødselsnummer) is not null.
User Instruction
This part teaches you how to carry out electronic reporting of sailing time from Adonis LØNN, provided that points 1 - 3 in the Introduction above have been carried out correctly.
Get Started
Go to Tools > Export and bring up the various export routines. At the bottom of the list, you will find NMA Export (NB: Requires point 2 in Introduction to be completed correctly)
2. When you open NMA Export, the main screen for NMA Sdir export appears like this:
To initiate the export of data, you must define the date interval for the export. This is done by selecting from-date and to-date at the top of the screen. Make sure the Load Mode is set to Unprocessed, as shown in the screenshot. You will then get a list of seafarers for whom sailing time must be reported.
NB: The From date should first read 01/11/2022, as it is assumed that reporting has been done in the traditional way until 31/10/2022, which can no longer be used.
3. In the list, you can select individuals or tag everyone to upload to the Norwegian Maritime Directorate. When you have marked those to be sent, click on Send To Sdir. The data export starts and you can follow the progress. When it is finished, you can click on Close to close the dialog window.
Should an error occur during the export, you will be able to see it in this log.
If there’s an error while processing the record, you will see it from this log.
4. Switch to the Sdir's Seafeares tab at the top of the screen. Then you click on the button Load Sdir in the toolbar, You will immediately see that the sailing activities, which contain the Sailing Time, are uploaded:
When the process is done for everyone, click Close to exit the routine.
You will then see a list of all people who have been uploaded and how many hours of Sailing Time have been reported for the individual:
Load Mode: Changed
This must be used if previously uploaded activities for sailing time have now been changed and therefore must be exported again to the Norwegian Maritime Directorate.
Load Mode: Deleted
This mode must be used for activities that have been deleted after they have previously been uploaded to SDir. Deleted activities will show, and when you re-export to the Norwegian Maritime Directorate, previously uploaded data will be deleted from their system.
Housekeeping - Plugin Installation and Configuration
The section will guide you through the plugin installation and configuration procedures.
NOTE: This part requires thorough IT knowledge to your Adonis' platform. We strongly recommend that you involve your IT staff from the start to make sure that the installation and setup are correctly done.
